During the event, monsters such as Viper Tobi-Kadachi, Glavenus, Gold Rathian, and Silver Rathalos will appear more frequently!

A new driftstone, Mysterious Driftstone Q, also arrives. It may grant armor skills such as Retaliation, Headstrong, and Parry Concentration. In addition, a new Driftsmelting Quest will reward a Divine Blessing Driftgem and driftstone shards. Use them to unlock new skills!

Base Defense is almost here! Prepare for the arrival of Riftcharged Legiana by using driftsmelting to upgrade your equipment even further!

• Guaranteed second slot of monster materials for group hunt rewards.

Driftstone bonus

• Chance of receiving Mysterious Driftstone Q from all large monsters.
  • Guaranteed to receive one from the featured monsters and elder dragon (regular driftstones will not drop).
  • Chance of receiving either Mysterious Driftstone Q or a Crimson/Azure/Amber/Cyan/Pale/Black Driftstone from all other large monsters.
• Distance required for driftsmelting with driftstones obtained during this event period reduced to 1 km.

New Driftstone & Driftgem

Collect a new driftstone, Mysterious Driftstone Q, and exchange driftstone shards for the new Retaliation Driftgem.

• Mysterious Driftstone Q may grant your armor one of the following skills: Retaliation, Headstrong, or Parry Concentration.
• Retaliation Driftgem will grant your armor the Retaliation skill.

About Retaliation & Parry Concentration

Mysterious Driftstone Q may grant your armor Retaliation.

Skill name: Retaliation
Skill effect: Makes it easier to parry, and returns damage at close range when parrying, proportional to the power of the parried attack.

Mysterious Driftstone Q may grant your armor Parry Concentration.

Skill name: Parry Concentration
Skill effect: Fills Special Gauge after parrying a monster’s attack.

• The skill Parry Concentration will become available from standard driftstones at a later date.
• Details regarding when it will become available and which color of driftstone it will be added to will be announced separately.

Take on limited-time quests that include slaying Viper Tobi-Kadachi and Silver Rathalos. Complete them to earn materials for the target monster!

Limited-Time Quests: Driftsmelting Quest

Take on limited-time quests that involve driftsmelting. Complete them to earn a Divine Blessing Driftgem, driftstone shards, and Armor Refining Parts!

Divine Blessing Driftgem
Divine Blessing gives a chance of reducing damage from a monster’s attack. When facing powerful attacks from tough monsters, this skill can reduce damage and lower the chance of being knocked out. Adding just one to a piece of armor will make your hunts that bit more stable!

You can also collect driftstone shards and exchange them for driftgems that guarantee specific skills. Below is our recommended driftgem for next week’s Riftcharged Legiana!

Raw Power Driftgem
Raw Power decreases affinity, while increasing attack power. Since Glavenus featured defense weapons come with negative affinity, upgrading them to unlock the Critical Ferocity skill gives you even more chances to activate it!

You can also exchange for the newly added Retaliation Driftgem introduced in this event, so upgrade your equipment with the driftgems of your choice!

Recommended Armor for Driftsmelting

Retaliation activates when using certain actions that negate monster attacks, such as the long sword’s Iai Spirit Slash. Check out the applicable actions below:

• Long sword
  Iai Spirit Slash
  Sacred Sheathe Counter with the Sacred Sheath Combo style
  Iai Slash with the Spirit Reckoning style
• Hammer
  Water Strike with the Water Strike style
• Switch axe
  Element Burst with the Elemental Burst Counter style

And here’s an example long sword build. If you’re not sure where to start, try adding the Retaliation skill to the following armor for an extra boost!

Additional Information

• All hunters who have completed the prologue can enjoy the event content.
• Event quests will automatically become available in the Special Quests tab to all hunters who have completed the prologue.
• Riftborne monsters will only start to appear after you have unlocked 8★ monsters on the field.
• Driftsmelting and driftsmelting quests can be unlocked by completing the pre-season story.
• The pre-season story refers to the period from the end of the prologue to the completion of Chapter 13: Sunderer of the Skies.
• See here for details on how to enjoy driftsmelting.
• Event quests will be available from Monday, June 1st, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. – Sunday, June 7th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (local time). Be sure to complete the quests and receive your rewards between these times.
• The distance required to smelt a driftstone acquired before the event period will remain the same even if it is smelted during the event period, but the distance required for a driftstone acquired by hunting a monster during the event period will remain 1 km after the event period ends.
• The distance required to smelt driftgems obtained by exchanging driftstone shards will remain the same during the event.
• Check in-game for details of the skills granted by driftstones.
