Another Driftsmelting Bonanza is on the way!

During the event, monsters such as Bishaten and Lagombi will appear more frequently!

A new driftstone, Mysterious Driftstone S, also arrives. It may grant armor skills such as Stunning Impact and Fighting Spirit. In addition, a new Driftsmelting Quest will reward an Attack Boost Driftgem and driftstone shards. Use them to unlock new skills!

Base Defense is almost here! Prepare for the arrival of Riftcharged Diablos by using driftsmelting to upgrade your equipment even further!

Balance Adjustments for Select Armor
Starting with the update on the same day, balance adjustments will be applied to select armor. During this event, Elder Dragon Interception points will feature increased appearances of elder dragons whose materials can be used to forge the armor affected by these balance adjustments. Take this opportunity to challenge elder dragons and forge or upgrade your armor!

Activity is expected to increase for the following monsters.

Only the following elder dragons will appear at Elder Dragon Interception points. Plus, Velkhana activity is expected to rise throughout the event.

More Elder Dragon Interceptions

• More Elder Dragon Interceptions will occur at points where both Interceptions and Hunt-a-thons usually occur.

Driftstone bonus

• Chance of receiving Mysterious Driftstone S from all large monsters.
  • Guaranteed to receive one from the featured monsters, elder dragons, and Bazelgeuse in Hunt-a-thons (incl. Riftborne) (regular driftstones will not drop).
  • Chance of receiving either Mysterious Driftstone S or a Crimson/Azure/Amber/Cyan/Pale/Black Driftstone from all other large monsters.
• Distance required for driftsmelting with driftstones obtained during this event period reduced to 1 km.

New Driftstone and Driftgem

Collect a new driftstone, Mysterious Driftstone S, and exchange driftstone shards for the new Stunning Impact Driftgem.

Take on limited-time quests that include slaying Bishaten and Lagombi. Complete them to earn materials for the target monster!

Limited-Time Quests: Driftsmelting Quest

Take on limited-time quests that require you to log in during the event. Complete them to earn an Attack Boost Driftgem, driftstone shards, and Armor Refining Parts!

Attack Boost Driftgem
Attack increases the attack power of your equipped weapon.
It’s a highly useful skill that boosts your overall damage output, making it easier to deal more damage to monsters. Be sure to pick it up while you have the chance!

You can also collect driftstone shards and exchange them for driftgems that guarantee specific skills. Below are our recommended driftgems for the following week’s Riftcharged Diablos.

• Stunning Impact Driftgem
  Inflicts additional damage based on stun buildup value when inflicting stun buildup.
  This skill pairs especially well with weapons that can easily build up stun, such as the hunting horn and hammer.

• Fighting Spirit Driftgem
  When the Special Gauge becomes full, damage dealt increases for 20 seconds.
  It also synergizes well with the Meditation equipment skill found on Velkhana armor, increasing your damage whether your Special Gauge is full or not.

• Ice Attack Driftgem
  Increases weapon’s ice-element value.
  It also pairs well with Velkhana Aegis, the equipment skill found on Velkhana armor, allowing you to further increase your ice element attack power. Since ice is one of Riftcharged Diablos’ weaknesses, this combination is highly recommended.

Exchange for the driftgem of your choice and upgrade your equipment!

Recommended Armor for Driftsmelting

Stunning Impact activates when certain attacks that inflict stun buildup—such as most hammer and hunting horn attacks, or sword & shield shield attacks—hit a monster’s head.

Here’s an example of a hammer loadout. If you’re not sure which armor to use driftsmelting on, try adding Stunning Impact to the armor below to make it even stronger.

Additional Information

• All hunters who have completed the prologue can enjoy the event content.
• Event quests will automatically become available in the Special Quests tab to all hunters who have completed the prologue.
• Riftborne monsters will only start to appear after you have unlocked 8★ monsters on the field.
• Driftsmelting and driftsmelting quests can be unlocked by completing the pre-season story.
• The pre-season story refers to the period from the end of the prologue to the completion of Chapter 13: Sunderer of the Skies.
• See here for details on how to enjoy driftsmelting.
• Event quests will be available from Monday, August 3rd, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. – Sunday, August 9th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (local time). Be sure to complete the quests and receive your rewards between these times.
• The distance required to smelt a driftstone acquired before the event period will remain the same even if it is smelted during the event period, but the distance required for a driftstone acquired by hunting a monster during the event period will remain 1 km after the event period ends.
• The distance required to smelt driftgems obtained by exchanging driftstone shards will remain the same during the event.
