It's a Driftsmelting Bonanza!

Monster alert! We’re expecting increasing activity of Azure Rathalos in forest habitats and Black Diablos in desert habitats starting next week. This is the perfect time to get in your hunts with these usually elusive monsters!
During this time, you can also look forward to a new type of driftstone as a chance reward in place of regular driftstones when slaying Azure Rathalos or Black Diablos. You might even get one when slaying other large monsters too! In light of all this, you can also expect higher rates of driftstones in your basic rewards.
Don’t miss this prime opportunity to go on a hunting spree and upgrade your equipment via driftsmelting!

What to expect during this event:
- Increased appearances of Azure Rathalos in forest habitats and Black Diablos in desert habitats.
- Regular appearances of Azure Rathalos and Black Diablos at Hunt-a-thon points.
- Mysterious Driftstone A may be obtained by slaying any large monster for a limited time only.
- Azure Rathalos and Black Diablos will only drop Mysterious Driftstone A (Crimson Driftstones and Pale Driftstones will not drop).
- All other large monsters have a chance of dropping either a regular driftstone or Mysterious Driftstone A.
- The distance required for driftsmelting with driftstones obtained during this event period will be reduced from the usual 5 km to 2.5 km.
*Driftgems including Mysterious Driftgem A will require 5 km. - Mysterious Driftgem A will be eligible for exchanging driftstone shards.
- Mysterious Driftstone A and Mysterious Driftgem A may grant your armor the skills Dragon Attack and Critical Boost.

*During the event, all hunters who have completed the prologue will find more frequent appearances of Azure Rathalos and Black Diablos.
*Driftsmelting can be unlocked by completing the pre-season story.
*The pre-season story refers to the period from the end of the prologue to the completion of Chapter 13: Sunderer of the Skies.
*The distance required to smelt a driftstone acquired before the event period will remain 5 km even if it is smelted during the event period, but the distance required for a driftstone acquired by hunting a monster during the event period will remain 2.5 km after the event period ends.
*The distance required to smelt driftgems obtained by exchanging driftstone shards will remain the same during the event.
