Hunt With Others

Exploration Bases

Exploration Bases are regional landmarks where hunters can cooperatively develop.
You can develop your base with local hunters during “base development periods” that last around 4 weeks.

Your goal achievement rewards received from monster outbreaks that occur at the base during specific periods will increase if you develop your base. In addition, in the last week of each Wave, a riftcharged monster will appear at bases.

At the end of the base development period, the Base Awards will take place, where rewards will be given out based on how much you contributed to the base, and you can view the contributions of hunters from around the world. Get together and celebrate everyone’s hard work!

*You must be Hunter Rank 11 or higher to join an exploration base.

You can access your closest exploration base through the following methods:

  • Tap the Base button in the bottom-right of the main screen
  • Tap the base directly in the field

You can check the details of bases and submit exploration reports even from outside your accessible range, however, in order to join monster outbreaks, the base must be within your accessible range. Please also note that only the exploration base closest to you will be shown in wide view.

*Once the base development period ends, your base’s growth will be reset.

You can do the following activities at an exploration base:

  • Submit Exploration Emblems via an exploration report to develop your base
  • Join monster outbreaks
  • Join a Base Defense against riftcharged monsters
  • View the leaderboard

Your base’s Base Reputation will be displayed in the upper-right of the exploration base screen.
The toggle above the banner lets you switch between the normal exploration base screen and the monster outbreak screen.
*During the Base Defense event period, you can switch between the main screen and the Base Defense screen.

Also, tapping “View on Map” will let you confirm the location of an exploration base on the in-game map. Tap “Get Directions” to open your device’s map application and get the exact route to the base from your current location.

These are items required to develop bases. You can earn Exploration Emblems through the following methods:

  • Gather materials from gathering point (L)
  • Slay 1 monster at a Hunt-a-thon point
  • Slay or repel an elder dragon in an Elder Dragon Interception

After the base development period ends, there is a gap of about one day before the next development period begins. You can still collect Exploration Emblems during this period.

The maximum number of obtainable/possessable Exploration Emblems are as follows:

Exploration Emblems Limits
Amount of Exploration Emblems earnable per day 100
Amount of Slaying Emblems earnable per day 30
Amount of Exploration Emblems and Slaying Emblems you can hold 300

Distant Exploration Bonus

The further away from the exploration base you obtained an Exploration Emblem, the more Base Reputation that you’ll earn when submitting an exploration report.
*This bonus has no effect on the base’s development.

Bonuses based on distance from the exploration base are as follows. The distance from the exploration base is displayed below each Exploration Emblem on the exploration report screen.

Type of Exploration Emblem Gathering Point Hunt-a-thon Elder Dragon Interception
Within 5km 10 reputation points 30 reputation points 50 reputation points
5km to
100km
20 reputation points 60 reputation points 100 reputation points
100km to
1000km
30 reputation points 90 reputation points 150 reputation points
1000km+ 50 reputation points 150 reputation points 250 reputation points

You can earn one Slaying Emblem for every 10 large monsters defeated in the field (excluding Elder Dragon Interceptions and Hunt-a-thons), up to a maximum of 30 per day.
These can be used for exploration reports, but they will be reset at the end of the training period and cannot be carried over.

*The Distant Exploration Bonus does not apply.

Submitting Exploration Emblems you’ve collected to an exploration base is known as an “exploration report.” By submitting exploration reports, the base grows and its level increases.

  1. Access the exploration base
  2. Tap “Develop the base” at the bottom of the screen
  3. Select 5 Exploration Emblems and submit your report
  • The types and quantities of Exploration Emblems required for that base’s development are displayed on the screen.
  • Exploration Emblems with an extra bonus provide additional bonuses to the Base Reputation earned and the number of reports counted.
  • If you report a category that has already been completed, you will earn Base Reputation, but it will not affect the base’s growth.
  • Hunters who earn a lot of Base Reputation will be displayed on the leaderboard.

*It may take up to 30 minutes for other hunters’ reports to be reflected.
*Once the base development period ends, the exploration report history will be reset.

"Recommended" Button

If you’re unsure which token to choose, tap “Recommended.” It will automatically select tokens based on the following priorities:

  • Affects base growth
  • Grants extra bonuses
  • Earns more Base Reputation

Base Reputation can be earned through exploration reports and monster outbreaks. It accumulates for each base, and the top 20 rankings are displayed on the leaderboard. You can view the leaderboard by tapping the banner on the exploration base screen and checking the bottom of the details screen (“You” will be shown next to your hunter’s entry).

*Please note that Base Reputation will be reset once the base development period ends.

During the base development period, swarms of certain monsters will spawn at designated times. The higher the level of the exploration base, the greater the goal achievement rewards.

The goal is for all hunters gathered at that base to collectively reach a total of 100 monsters defeated.

Registration (1 week before the event – the day of the event)

Starting one week before the monster outbreak event, you can pre-register the time slot you plan to participate in.

  1. Access the exploration base
  2. Select the Outbreak screen using the toggle on the banner
  3. Select “Join,” check the time slot you plan to attend, and tap OK

*You can only register for one time slot per session.
*You can change your registration later. Registering for another base will automatically overwrite your previous selection.
*You can register even while the outbreak is in progress.
*On the preview screen, you can check the estimated number of participants for each time slot.

Outbreak (On the Day)

When the event starts, head to the exploration base you registered for and work together with nearby hunters to slay the monsters.

How to Participate

Tap an exploration base within your accessible range.
*If an error occurs during the process, make sure the exploration base is within the access circle and tap it again.

How the Hunt Works

  • This is always a group hunt (the party feature cannot be used).
  • Only hunters gathered at the same exploration base will participate in the hunt.
  • The total number of monsters slain is the combined total of all participants.
Example: If 4 people slay a monster once, 4 monsters are counted toward the Slaying Goal.

You can continue slaying monsters even after the Slaying Goal is achieved.
*Outbreaks are group hunts. If you are alone in the lobby, you can start hunting by yourself.

Goal Rewards

To receive rewards, you must meet the following conditions:

  • You must have submitted at least one exploration report at that base during the base development period.
  • You must have defeated at least one target monster at that base.

Rewards are granted after each time period ends. Please launch the app within two days of the outbreak ending to claim your rewards.

*Even if you meet the conditions at multiple bases during the same time period, you can only receive rewards from one base.
*Reward contents are determined by the Base Level at the start of that time period.

Display and Controls

  • If a hunter currently on the leaderboard participates, their rank will be displayed in the lobby and on the hunting screen.
  • After defeating a monster, you can immediately join the next hunt from the Hunt Report screen.
  • To stop hunting, press the button in the bottom-left corner of the lobby screen.

The Base Defense takes place during the final week of the event period, which lasts approximately one month. This takes place at your exploration base.
This is a cooperative content mode where hunters gathered at the same base work together to take on powerful “riftcharged” monsters.
You must have reached Hunter Rank 11 to participate.

How to Participate

You can participate from a nearby exploration base using one of the following methods:

  • Tap the Base button in the bottom-right corner of the main screen
  • Tap the Base Defense button in the top-right corner of the main screen, then tap the banner for the nearest exploration base once you’re on the Base Defense screen

*You can participate even if there are no exploration bases within your accessible range.

The “Base Awards” will be held at the end of the base development period and the start of the next one.

It will begin automatically when you access the exploration base. If you select “Watch Later,” you can view it at any time by tapping the Base Awards button on the exploration base screen.

What You Can View at the Base Awards

The Base Awards displays a summary of your base activity results.

  • Your base’s development results
  • Results of outbreaks at your base
  • Your contributions
  • Other hunters’ achievements and rankings

Important Notes

  • “Your Base” displays information about the exploration base where you earned the most Base Reputation.
  • You can view the Base Awards as many times as you like until the next base development period ends.
  • To view the Base Awards, you must have submitted at least one expedition report during that period.
  • The total monster slaying count ranking for outbreaks is calculated based on the maximum number of monsters slain in a single day.
  • The global ranking is calculated based on the total Base Reputation earned across all bases.
  • The results of the Base Awards are finalized after global tallies are completed. Therefore, your ranking may change from what you previously saw.
  • If you violate the Niantic Terms of Service or the Niantic Player Guidelines, you may be excluded from the results.

At the end of the Base Awards you can claim your rewards if you meet the requirements.
