Read on to find out what’s happening during Season 9 Wave 3!
With Wave 3 beginning on May 18th, Riftborne Glavenus, Riftborne Pukei-Pukei, and switch axe style selection are all arriving!
In the final week’s Base Defense, Riftcharged Legiana makes its appearance! Featured defense weapons will include weapons forged from Viper Tobi-Kadachi and Glavenus materials, as well as elder dragon Chameleos materials. Prepare through each event and take on the challenge!

New Riftborne Monsters: Glavenus & Pukei-Pukei
Glavenus & Pukei-Pukei arrive as new riftborne monsters! With this, it will now be possible to customize the style of their weapons.
And for a limited time only, you’ll need fewer materials to forge and upgrade Glavenus & Pukei-Pukei weapons!
Style Selection Unlocked: Switch Axe
Get ready to change up the style of your switch axes with style customization!
[Soaring Wyvern Blade]
A style that focuses on using energy to leap high into the air and unleash devastating attacks.
[Elemental Burst Counter]
A style that lets you attack by exploding phials implanted using Elemental Burst Counter.
- Depending on the style you select, long-press actions and combos will change, offering different ways to use each weapon.
- Check the release notes on the day to read more about the styles.
- Only weapons that can be forged or upgraded with materials from riftborne monsters are eligible for style customization. Check eligible weapons with the filter on the equipment menu.

- Submitting exploration reports at exploration bases, as well as earning Exploration Emblems and Slaying Emblems, will also be possible from the start of the Wave.

- Monster outbreaks in Season 9 Wave 3 will use a special format featuring two monsters.
- During the first 30 minutes of the outbreak period, Viper Tobi-Kadachi will appear. During the final 30 minutes, Riftborne Glavenus will appear.

Conditions for Receiving Goal Rewards
Rewards can be obtained if the following conditions are met:
- Submit at least one exploration report at that exploration base between the start of the Wave and the end of the monster outbreak.
- Slay at least one target monster at that base.
Rewards can be earned each time the goal is achieved during an outbreak period. Rewards are granted after each time slot ends.
Even if the conditions are met at multiple exploration bases during the same time window, rewards can only be claimed from one exploration base.

- Set to appear at certain times during this period.
- The Base Defense period for Wave 3 will be extended longer than Wave 1 and Wave 2. Enjoy it until the start of the next season!

Monsters introduced in Season 9, including Seregios, as well as Viper Tobi-Kadachi, Almudron, Glavenus, and more will appear more frequently!
You’ll also have a chance to obtain the Season 9 driftstones Mysterious Driftstone O, Mysterious Driftstone P, and Mysterious Driftstone Q.
