Season 4: Roars from the Winterwind is LIVE!

Season 4: Roars from the Winterwind has arrived, introducing the brand-new tundra habitat and monsters like Tigrex and Lagombi!

This season is packed with exciting updates, including the addition of the Switch Axe weapon type and a new customizable Palico to support your hunts.

New tundra habitat & more monsters to hunt!

Now you can hunt in the all-new tundra habitat, where you’ll encounter monsters that favor icy environments. In addition, you’ll now find Tigrex, Lagombi, Volvidon, and Somnacanth, as well as Barioth and small monsters Wulg and Cortos, who haven’t been seen since the spring.(*1)

Volvidon, Somnacanth, and Tigrex will appear on the field once you have unlocked them in Season 4 urgent quests.
*Some of the additional monsters will also appear outside the tundra habitat.
*Lagombi will appear in the tundra habitat once you have completed the prologue.
*Tigrex will appear in low numbers.
*With the addition of the tundra habitat, we’ve made adjustments to some large monsters that appear in the pre-season story and new gathering points have been added. See more details here.

What to expect with existing monsters

Once Season 4 begins, some monsters will temporarily stop appearing on the field. However, it will be possible to unlock them once more by completing urgent quests that occur in the Season 4 story quest.

Monsters that will temporarily disappear from the field:
Radobaan, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, Odogaron, Zinogre, Basarios, Khezu, Mizutsune, Magnamalo, Rajang, Black Diablos, Pink Rathian, Azure Rathalos, Coral Pukei-Pukei, Nightshade Paolumu

Monsters that you will temporarily be unable to specify in the Monster Tracker:
Radobaan, Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, Odogaron, Basarios, Khezu, Magnamalo

*Zinogre, Mizutsune, Rajang, Black Diablos, Pink Rathian, Azure Rathalos, Coral Pukei-Pukei, and Nightshade Paolumu will appear on the field in low numbers once unlocked in urgent quests.

Wield your own Switch Axe!

The Switch Axe is here! This weapon type lets you switch skillfully between two modes: the long-reaching Axe Mode and the fast-attacking Sword Mode.

To celebrate the addition of the Switch Axe, we’ve prepared Switch Axe Training Quests, available for a limited time only! Find more details about the Switch Axe in the FAQ and about the quests in the December 5th announcement.

New Palico features!

Hunters will now have their own customizable Palico to assist with gathering materials and marking monsters on the field! Customize your Palico’s fur color, facial features, and even give it a name. You can even take AR photos with your newly styled Palico!

    It’s time to get creative with your Palico’s looks! The following features can be edited:
  • Outline
  • Fur (fur color, pattern, pattern color)
  • Eyes (eye color, shape, pupils)
  • Ears
  • Tail
  • Outfit color
  • Voice (type, pitch)

*You can freely name your Palico using letters of the alphabet.

  • Palico AR -
    Capture memories with your Palico using AR photography!
    Certain conditions, such as having an AR-compatible device, are required to use the Palico AR feature.

New feature: Friend Cheering

A new cheer function will allow you to send encouragement to your friends. Each cheer received from a friend will temporarily increase maximum health for the day by 1 (max. +10).
Cheers can be sent to a maximum of 10 friends per day.

Updates to loadouts

Equipment loadouts have increased from 10 to a new maximum of 20! Plus, ahead of Season 4 starting, driftsmelting skills are now saved to loadouts.

Season Supply Items

From Thursday, December 12th, 2024 at 12:00 a.m. (UTC), you’ll be able to add an additional 250 slots with the Item Box Expansion available as a Supply Item in the shop!
