If you’re still looking to forge and upgrade more equipment after the anniversary festivities, or perhaps hunt more riftborne monsters and work on your style customization, we’ve got good news!

The 3rd Anniversary Afterparty event is coming, giving you another chance to upgrade the grade 10 weapon you received during the 3rd Anniversary!

During this event, all part break rewards, including rewards for breaking special parts on riftborne monsters, will be doubled! Riftborne materials are required to select styles and unlock parameters through style customization. Make the most of these doubled rewards and stock up on riftborne materials!

Your access range will remain at 50% more than its usual range.

3rd Anniversary Special Investigation Still Available!
The 3rd Anniversary Special Investigation from the anniversary event is also continuing! The 3rd Anniversary Special Investigation makes it easier to find Rathalos, Mizutsune, Zinogre, Legiana, Deviljho, and Magnamalo. Plus, Deviljho is appearing on the field!

Riftborne monsters also continue to appear more frequently, so hunt Azure Rathalos, whose weapons are featured defense weapons, as well as monsters that provide materials for upgrading the grade 10 weapon you received during the 3rd Anniversary!

A new driftstone, Mysterious Driftstone U, is also making its debut! It has a chance to grant skills that pair well with Brachydios armor, including Buildup Boost and Artillery.

The 3rd Anniversary celebration isn’t over yet. Keep upgrading that equipment!

Breaking a special part on a riftborne monster may grant riftborne materials required for style customization as part break rewards.

• Riftborne materials may also be obtained without breaking a special part.

Limited-Time Quest: (Challenge) 3rd Anniversary Afterparty

Take on limited-time quests that task you with breaking monster parts. Complete the quests to earn Weapon Refining Parts and Armor Refining Parts.

New Driftstone and Driftgem

Collect a new driftstone, Mysterious Driftstone U, and exchange driftstone shards for the new Buildup Boost Driftgem and Artillery Driftgem.

• Mysterious Driftstone U may grant your armor the skill Buildup Boost, Artillery, or Special Boost.
• More details about Mysterious Driftstone U will be added to the FAQ at a later date.

Skills such as Buildup Boost, Artillery, and Special Boost, which have a chance to be granted to armor from Mysterious Driftstone U, can also be obtained by exchanging for their corresponding driftgems. Here are some highlights for each driftgem!

• Buildup Boost Driftgem
  Increases damage if poison/paralysis/sleep/blast buildup occurs when hitting a monster. It pairs well with the new skill Blast Exploit, found on armor forged from Brachydios materials, which makes it easier to build up blast while also increasing attack power.

• Artillery Driftgem
  Increases damage of gunlance’s Shelling/Wyvern’s Fire, charge blade’s phial attacks, sticky ammo, and wyvern ammo. At Lv3 and above, it also increases the number of gunlance ammo and charge blade phials. You’ll need this skill to activate the new skill Advanced Artillery, found on armor forged from Brachydios materials, so be sure to get it!

• Special Boost Driftgem
  Increases the damage of Special Skills. It pairs well with Advanced Special Boost, an equipment skill unlocked by reaching style customization Lv10 on weapons forged from Azure Rathalos materials, allowing you to boost the power of your Special Skills even further. Azure Rathalos weapons are also featured defense weapons against Riftcharged Paolumu, making this an especially useful combination.

Exchange for the driftgem of your choice and upgrade your equipment!

Recommended Armor for Driftsmelting

If you’re not sure which equipment to use Driftsmelting on, we recommend adding Artillery, which is required to activate the new skill Advanced Artillery. When Artillery Lv5 or higher is active, Advanced Artillery increases damage of gunlance’s Shelling/Wyvern’s Fire, charge blade’s phial attacks, sticky ammo, and wyvern ammo.

Here’s an example gunlance loadout. If you’re not sure where to start, try adding Artillery to the armor below to upgrade your equipment even further!

Additional Information

• All hunters who have completed the prologue can enjoy the event content.
• Event quests will automatically become available in the Special Quests tab to all hunters who have completed the prologue.
• Riftborne monsters will only start to appear after you have unlocked 8★ monsters on the field.
• Driftsmelting and driftsmelting quests can be unlocked by completing the pre-season story.
• The pre-season story refers to the period from the end of the prologue to the completion of Chapter 13: Sunderer of the Skies.
• See here for details on how to enjoy driftsmelting.
• Event quests will be available from Monday, October 5th, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. – Sunday, October 11th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (local time). Be sure to complete the quests and receive your rewards between these times.
• The distance required to smelt a driftstone acquired before the event period will remain the same even if it is smelted during the event period, but the distance required for a driftstone acquired by hunting a monster during the event period will remain 1 km after the event period ends.
• The distance required to smelt driftgems obtained by exchanging driftstone shards will remain the same during the event.
