What are status ailments?

  • When a certain amount of damage is dealt with a weapon that can inflict status ailment, the monster will become affected.
  • While the Fire/Water/Thunder/Ice/Dragon Attack skills increase damage, the ailment-inflicting Poison/Paralysis/Sleep/Blast Attack skills do not affect damage but instead increase the buildup of the status ailment.

See here for more information about status ailments.

Status ailment: Paralysis

  • A paralyzed monster will be unable to move for a certain amount of time. Attacking a paralyzed monster will deal more damage than usual.
  • The Paralysis Attack skill increases the likelihood of causing paralysis.

Status ailment: Sleep

  • A sleeping monster will stay asleep until it is hit. The first attack on a sleeping monster deals significantly more damage.
