Wave 2 begins on April 20th. Riftborne Somnacanth, Riftborne Banbaro, and charge blade style selection are all arriving with the start of this wave!
In the final week’s Base Defense, Riftcharged Great Girros makes its appearance! Featured defense weapons will include weapons forged from Almudron and Somnacanth materials, as well as Nergigante materials to commemorate the launch of Friend Link. Prepare through each event and take on the challenge!
The seasonal event, MH Now Spring Festival 2026, is also coming. During the Spring Festival, you can obtain an event-exclusive weapon, which will also be a featured defense weapon. Be sure to get one as an option for taking on Riftcharged Great Girros!

New Riftborne Monster: Somnacanth
Somnacanth arrives as a new riftborne monster! With this, it will now be possible to customize the style of Somnacanth weapons.
And for a limited time only, you’ll need fewer materials to forge and upgrade Somnacanth weapons.
New Riftborne Monster: Banbaro
Banbaro arrives as a new riftborne monster! With this, it will now be possible to customize the style of Banbaro weapons.
And for a limited time only, you’ll need fewer materials to forge and upgrade Banbaro weapons.
Style Selection Unlocked: Charge Blade
Get ready to change up the style of your charge blades with style customization!
Sword Boost:
A style that powers up Sword Mode, allowing for additional attacks based on the equipped phial.
Axe Boost:
A style that powers up Axe Mode, specializing in consecutive attacks.
- Depending on the style you select, long-press actions and combos will change, offering different ways to use each weapon.
- Check the release notes on the day to read more about the styles.
- Only weapons that can be forged or upgraded with materials from riftborne monsters are eligible for style customization. Check eligible weapons with the filter on the equipment menu.

- Submitting exploration reports at exploration bases, as well as earning Exploration Emblems and Slaying Emblems, will also be possible from the start of the Wave.

Medal Conditions
- You must sign up to participate and slay at least 1 target monster at the base and during the time slot you signed up for.
- Awarded after the time slot ends.
- Medal is awarded only once per Wave.

Conditions for Receiving Goal Rewards
Rewards can be obtained if the following conditions are met:
- Submit at least one exploration report at that exploration base between the start of the Wave and the end of the monster outbreak.
- Slay at least one target monster at that base.
Rewards can be earned each time the goal is achieved during an outbreak period. Rewards are granted after each time slot ends.
Even if the conditions are met at multiple exploration bases during the same time window, rewards can only be claimed from one exploration base.

- When challenging a riftcharged monster, using a featured defense weapon not only grants a Defense Points bonus, but also helps weaken the Dimensional Barrier.
