To celebrate the first appearance of the elder dragon Velkhana in Monster Hunter Now on July 20th, 2026 (local time), we’re excited to announce the MH Now Summer Hunt 2026!
Take on Velkhana in Elder Dragon Interceptions!
During this event, Velkhana will be the only elder dragon appearing at Elder Dragon Interception points for all hunters, regardless of whether you have purchased a paid ticket or not. In addition, Elder Dragon Interceptions will occur more frequently at Hunt-a-thon / Elder Dragon Interception points.
Friend Link is a great way to join the hunt!
When invited through Friend Link, you can participate in an Elder Dragon Interception even if you’re far away from an Interception point. Invite your friends and challenge Velkhana together as many times as you can! Quest rewards will also include Friend Link Tokens, so be sure to make use of them.
New riftborne monsters, Bishaten and Lagombi, arrive!
With the update on the same day, Riftborne Bishaten and Riftborne Lagombi will also appear, and weapons forged from their materials will become eligible for style customization. These weapons are also featured defense weapons for Season 10 Wave 2, so don’t miss the opportunity to upgrade them as well!
Special Summer Hunt Tickets available each day!
Purchasing a Special Summer Hunt Ticket grants a variety of useful effects, including increased Elder Dragon Interception rewards, a 50% expanded access range, and large monsters reappearing in just 30 minutes. As a bonus, each ticket also includes Ultra Hunting Tickets that can be used during this event!
Not only will this help you make the most of Velkhana’s debut event, but it will also make it easier to challenge field monsters so you can gather the equipment needed to hunt Riftborne Bishaten and Riftborne Lagombi, and to take down Velkhana.
Special Summer Hunt Tickets will be sold separately for each day of the event. The event will run for one week, so choose the days that fit your schedule, pick up a ticket, and get ready to challenge Velkhana!

An elder dragon said to freeze all in its path. According to legend, it can control the cold and use its freezing breath to conjure massive spires of ice out of nowhere.

Velkhana finally arrives in Elder Dragon Interceptions!
Beware of Velkhana’s cold breath, which cannot be guarded against. Its head, torso, forelegs, wings, hind legs, and tail are covered in ice, and you cannot break these body parts while they are in this state. Once this monster’s health drops below half, it reinforces its protective ice. Focus your attacks on the ice-covered parts to break the ice, and then target the softer spots of its hide.
Velkhana’s weaknesses are fire, dragon, and blast. During the event, featured monsters will include those that provide materials for forging fire, dragon, and blast element weapons. Take this opportunity to upgrade your equipment and prepare to face Velkhana!

This may make it easier for hunters to match with others who normally have time zone differences or those with different daily schedules. Enjoy hunting together with hunters from around the world!

Use 2 Special Carving Knives
During the event, you can use up to two Special Carving Knives per hunt. Using two knives will triple the materials you receive, making it an efficient way to gather Velkhana materials! You can also use them when you’re after specific or harder-to-obtain materials.

By completing the Summer Hunt 2026: Midsummer Diamond Dust quest and Summer Hunt 2026: Monday through Thursday quests, available during this event, you’ll raise your Event Tier and receive rewards based on your Tier level. The Summer Hunt 2026 Pass includes a Free Plan and a paid Premium Plan. Purchasing the Premium Plan lets you earn even more rewards.

During the event, you can obtain 1 Limited Ultra Hunting Ticket from the free plan of the Summer Hunt 2026 Pass. Ultra Hunting Tickets allow you to immediately join a Hunt-a-thon or Elder Dragon Interception, even while the cooldown timer is active. These Limited Ultra Hunting Tickets can only be used during its validity period, so be sure to use them when taking on Velkhana!
Limited Ultra Hunting Tickets can be obtained through the Summer Hunt 2026 Pass free plan, as a bonus included with the Special Summer Hunt Ticket introduced below, and from the shop.
- Limited Ultra Hunting Tickets will be automatically removed once they expire. Be sure to use them during the event and challenge Velkhana while you can!

Hunting Horn Style Quest
Take on limited-time quests that include slaying monsters while equipped with a hunting horn! Complete them to earn Barroth materials and riftborne materials.
The Sandpipe, a hunting horn that can be forged and upgraded using Barroth materials, is a versatile weapon that can activate the Melody Effects Defense Up, Knockbacks Negated, and Attack Up (L). It performs well in a wide variety of situations, regardless of the monster you’re hunting or the equipment your allies are using. In addition, it comes with the Defense Boost equipment skill, making it a great choice for hunters looking to try out new styles. Take this opportunity to forge and upgrade the Sandpipe, then bring it along to group hunts - Friend Link or otherwise!

Hunting Horn Style Quest Investigation
The Hunting Horn Style Quest Investigation will be added to Monster Investigations. By selecting it, you’ll be more likely to find monsters that provide materials for the recommended hunting horn loadouts featured in-game, as well as those for armor containing Blunt Force, a skill recommended for the hunting horn.
By purchasing a Special Summer Hunt Ticket, you can enjoy various bonuses to help you in your hunts! Make the most of this ticket to enhance your hunting experience.

- Receive two of each material in the first to fourth slots of basic rewards of Elder Dragon Interceptions.
- Large monsters reappear in just 30 minutes.
