Exciting activity is stirring all around—Coral Pukei-Pukei and Barioth have been spotted more than usual and there has been an uptick in invasions by the fearsome Deviljho in voltaile territories!

During this upcoming event, it looks like slaying Deviljho, Coral Pukei-Pukei, or Barioth might reward you with a new type of driftstone instead of the usual ones. This driftstone can even grant your armor some brand-new skills, Dauntless and Headstrong!

Better yet, the chances of obtaining driftstones as basic rewards are increased during the event. Don’t miss this golden opportunity to hunt as many large monsters as possible and upgrade your equipment by driftsmelting!

From Monday, January 13th, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. until Sunday, January 19th, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (local time)

Event Details:

Monster appearances:

• During the event, these monsters will appear more frequently in the following habitats.
  　Deviljho: forest / desert / swamp / tundra habitats
  　Coral Pukei-Pukei: forest / swamp habitats
  　Barioth: tundra habitat
  *Deviljho will appear more frequently within volatile territories.
  *Volatile territories will not occur more frequently.

Hunt-a-thon points:

• There will be some event-exclusive Hunt-a-thon points that feature only the monsters listed above.

Driftstones:

• The limited-time Mysterious Driftstone D may be obtained by slaying any large monster.
• Deviljho, Coral Pukei-Pukei, and Barioth will only drop Mysterious Driftstone D.
  *Azure, Cyan, and Pale Driftstones will not drop.
• All other large monsters may drop either a regular driftstone or Mysterious Driftstone D.
• The distance required for driftsmelting with driftstones obtained during this event period will be reduced from the usual 5 km to 2.5 km.
  *Driftgems including Mysterious Driftgem D will require 5 km.
• Mysterious Driftgem D will be eligible for exchanging driftstone shards.
• Mysterious Driftstone D and Mysterious Driftgem D may grant your armor the skills Dauntless and Headstrong.

Limited-time quests:
Take on limited-time quests that include slaying Deviljho, Coral Pukei-Pukei, and Barioth.

New skills: Dauntless and Headstrong

Mysterious Driftstone D may grant your armor the new skills Dauntless and Headstrong.

• Skill: Dauntless

• Skill effect: Damage increases for a few seconds after performing a forward evasion. The effect ends if a certain amount of time passes or if your health becomes fully depleted while the skill is active.

• What to know: Ideal for playstyles that focus on evasion! Activate the skill by executing a forward evasion before attacking.

• Skill: Headstrong

• Skill effect: Damage increases after not evading for a few seconds. The effect ends if you evade or if your health becomes fully depleted while the skill is active.

• What to know: Ideal for playstyles that focus on guarding! Skillfully withstand monster attacks to activate the skill.

*Quests will be available from Monday, January 13th, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. until Sunday, January 19th, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (local time). Be sure to complete the quests and receive your rewards between these times.
*Driftsmelting, as well as the appearance of volatile territories on the field and Deviljho invasions, can be unlocked by completing the pre-season story.
*The pre-season story refers to the period from the end of the prologue to the completion of Chapter 13: Sunderer of the Skies.
*Driftstones can be obtained when you have space to store new ones.
*The distance required to smelt a driftstone acquired before the event period will remain 5 km even if it is smelted during the event period, but the distance required for a driftstone acquired by hunting a monster during the event period will remain 2.5 km after the event period ends.
*The distance required to smelt driftgems obtained by exchanging driftstone shards will remain the same during the event.
